Program Description:

California State University, Chico

Cal State Chico

Chico State, founded in 1887 and situated on 119 acres in downtown Chico, is a residential campus in a true college town with Big Chico Creek running through the middle. Our students come from 39 nations, 40 states and 2 US territories.

The second oldest campus within the California State University system, Chico has nearly 16,000 students with student to faculty ratio averaging at 24:1 and the average class size is 30.

Chico is home to Bidwell Park, the 3rd largest municipal park in California. The park, established in 1905, totals 3,670 acres.

Outdoor activities abound with swimming, picnicking, ball fields and miles of bike paths and trails for biking, jogging, walking, and hiking. Chico maintains a designation as a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Community. Its central location allows for easy access to skiing in the mountains, swimming in the ocean, boating etc.

Thursday nights and Saturday is Farmers' Market and then Friday Night Concerts all happening in downtown Chico!

Chico is located 90 miles north of Sacramento and 174 miles northeast of San Francisco. The main highway traveling north/south through Chico is Hwy 99. Interstate 5 (I-5) is the main interstate high

Helpful Information

Our experience is that when NSE students accept to do their part in this exchange parternship, registration process has been smooth and relatively easy. It is an online process with a specific time assigned to NSE. You will find that faculty and staff welcome exchange students both Domestic and International. Access to campus is easy by shuttle, bicycle & foot. WREC is a fabulous gym, there are 200+ organisations, Adventure Outings has trips, and CAVE offers opportunites for you to volunteer..
