Program Description:

California State University, Monterey Bay

Cal State Monterey Bay

Located one mile from the beaches of Monterey Bay, the largest marine sanctuary on the West Coast, CSUMB boasts an expansive 1365-acre campus on the former Fort Ord Military Base. The campus is four miles from the cities of Marina (to the north) and Seaside (to the south), which offer shopping, restaurants, golf courses, and much more.

A ten-minute drive brings you to Monterey, known around the world as the home of John Steinbeck's Cannery Row, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The golf courses of Pebble Beach, white sand beaches and shopping in Carmel, and the rugged Big Sur coastline are just a hop, skip and jump away as well.

Fifteen minutes to the east, you'll find great restaurants, mall shopping, and the Steinbeck Center in Salinas. And just 45 minutes to the north, just past the wildlife of the Elkhorn Slough, you'll find the wild life of Santa Cruz along with its busy Boardwalk.

Campus Location

CSUMB rests of sand dunes, landscaped with native plants, including acres of scrub oaks and open space. Great for biking, hiking, and getting away from it all. The climate is temperate - foggy, cool.

Helpful Information

Science classes can be difficult to secure because of the strict requirements and rigorous courses. Come with a flexible academic needs and please do not "require" a specific class in order to do the exchange. We'll do everything we can to help you get your classes but at times, it's simply not possible to get every class needed. Our faculty are very friendly, love what they do and very student-focused. Most are on a first name basis with their students and happy to help when asked.
