UMass AmherstUniversity of Massachusetts - Amherst

UMass is one of the leading centers of public higher education in the Northeast. UMass is part of the Five College Consortium which allows students to take classes and access libraries and activities at four prestigious liberal arts colleges in the Pioneer Valley: Amherst, Hampshire, Mt. Holyoke, and Smith.

UMass has esteemed faculty teaching in top-ranked departments. A recent building boom has created many state of the art academic facilities.

Over 50% of undergraduates live on campus. Our award winning dining services focuses on local and healthy food options. We have a brand new rec center and a great free public transportation system to get you all around the area.

UMass has every club and organization students might be interested in and our rural location offers a wealth of outdoor activities and the nearby town of Northampton has all of the amenities of a large city but with the same accessibility as Amherst.

Campus Location

UMass is a 1100 acre campus located in the rural college town of Amherst one hour north of Hartford CT, two hours west of Boston and three hours from New York City.

Helpful Information

On Campus Housing is guaranteed although preferences for specific areas can not always be met. Meal Plan is required if living on campus. Parking is available but probably will not be near where the student is living on campus. Off campus housing is plentiful but often requires a year lease and is rarely furnished. Careful research and planning will make for a smooth exchange.
