Program Description:

Jackson StateJackson State University

Jackson State University is located in Jackson, the capital city and the cultural, political and business center of Mississippi. Jackson's metro area population is approximately 425,000. The campus is a senic 125-acre tract only five minutes from downtown. JSU is encased in lush tree-lined walkways and a large central plaza which add to the atmosphere of a major university in a bustling city.

The University was founded in 1877 as Natchez Seminary to train teachers. Today, JSU awards bachelors, master's & doctoral degrees. It is also a Carnegie Doctoral/Research-Intensive institution. JSU is known as "Mississippi's Urban University" and it is a HBCU.

The University is composed of ten different colleges & divisions: the College of Education & Human Development: the College of Business & Liberal Arts: the College of Science, Engineering & Tech: the College of Lifelong Learning and the Division of Graduate Studies, International Studies & Undergraduate Studies.
