Over 34,000 students enjoy the river that runs through the Texas State campus and the college-friendly city of San Marcos, conveniently located between Austin and San Antonio. A short drive to Austin provides commuters access to many historic landmarks including the Texas capitol and the library of former president Lyndon B. Johnson, a Texas State graduate. Known as the "live music city of the world," Austin's famous sixth street provides year-round entertainment. Visitors to San Marcos participate in outdoor activities such as camping, kayaking, and on-campus tubing down the San Marcos River. San Marcos is a 45 minute drive to San Antonio and about five to six hours from South Padre Island beach and Mexico.
THE UNIVERSITY. Texas State opened its doors in 1903 and is currently the fifth largest university in Texas with 118 majors in eight colleges. With prominent faculty, the 429-acre 'hill country' campus offers an ideal environment for a rewarding education
Texas State University is located in an urban college-friendly city situated between Austin and San Antonio. Commuters can conveniently travel between all three cities within an hour and a half.
Please note the competitive subjects listed and plan alternate choices accordingly. Due to large freshmen enrollment, NSE students are encouraged to live in apartments off campus, but close to the university, or on a bus route (exceptions are freshmen.) All students are required to have health insurance while on exchange and proof of a meningitis vaccination is required. Texas State University has a student-friendly atmosphere with picturesque scenery, rolling hills, and an on-campus river.

Freshmen admitted at placement below 30 credit hours and/or below age 20 are required to live on campus. Students from Canada: Limited to two semesters. Must enroll in 12 hours per semester. Additional or fewer hours are not permitted. ALL incoming students will be required to submit proof of a meningitis vaccination before registering at Texas State.
